So I have this marathon in 3 weeks. I dont know what I was thinking, this winter has been one of the worst ever and my training has suffered. I have not hit 100 miles for a month since October. These past 2 weeks for me have been kind of tough. The stress of work REALLY got to me. I get so sick and tired of all these able-bodied persons trying to get me to deem them as "disabled" so they can be supported by Uncle Sam. My line became "you can be a greeter at Walmart!". I have 3 bulging discs in my neck and dont even take Motrin, yet people come in with the slightest ache, and say "I'm allergic to motrin" or "Motrin does nothing for me" so they can get some Vicoden to get high or sell on the street. I get so tired of these low-life junkies living off of the system, won't work or pay taxes, sit around all day and expect the government to support them with my tax dollars!! Dont even get me started on whether or not most of them even get their tired tails out there to vote, but always have something to say about whats wrong in society... LOOK IN THE MIRROR!! Oh, and for the record, I'm a Demopublican... so that means I'm in favor of anything that works for me... Oh but I digress, this is a running blog.
I have started my speedwork, sorta. Did some 1200 repeats. Did some stairs. 400 sprints. I'm now starting to remember how to run fast. I catch myself when I start running "sloppy". Did a 6 mile tempo run 2 days ago and felt really good, even though it was like 2 miles of uphill. I took yesterday off and went to a nice restaraunt with the fam... had to unwind from a crazy week. Today the weather was PERFECT!!! 48 degrees all sun minimal wind!! I had to get out there!! Did a 16 miler today, a combination of my shorter routes. Felt really good the first 13, but kinda struggled the last 3. But it was a big confidence booster!! It took 2:11:00 to finish, and I was really holding back. At this rate, I'm looking forward to my 25k race. I BETTER get a top 5!! Crazy thing about this run, I was actually very hungry near the end... who ever heard of being hungry during a run... usually that's the last thing on your mind!!! I usually dont post training run splits, but since this is my longest run until my marathon, I thought I would. I have a big problem with starting off too fast...
7:38 / 7:46 / 7:54 / 8:05 / 8:16 / 8:08 / 8:19 /7:53 / 7:53 (again) / 7:50 (chased by 4 foot dog for quarter mile) / 7:54 / 8:09 / 8:19 / 8:39 (getting hungry, lol) / 8:37 / 8:49 / :53 for last .11 mile.
I was supposed to go to a birthday party today... but I just gotta rest my body. Another one tomorrow that I likely wont attend. I'd rather be running... and I run on...

chased by a 4 foot dog! hilarious. well probably not at the time. i almost got tripped by a golden retriever last month running mach 1 at me then i yelled at its owner who was standing there blind deaf and mute. i saw your post on runners world forums, thot i'd stop by. your times are fast, keep up the good work. good like in your full.
You know what? I think it I like you as a Demopublican!!! I think that's what I am. hahaha. Don't let those deadbeats wear you down. And as far as getting hungry at the end of some training runs... happens to me all the time. I often hear my stomach growl loudly and then I know I'd better get to the end of the workout quickly, or I'll bonk hard.
Glad you're back to your old self!
You crack me up!
